The new Amazon Prime series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tells the story of the rise of the dark Sauron. A gifted seafarer, Elendil became the savior of the Dúnedain in the show, saving them from the destruction of Númenor to the mainland.

Elendil was the father of Isildur, Anárion and Eärien. With them he lived in Númenor. As a friend of the Elves, he opposed the anti-Elf views of Pharazon, ruler of Númenor. When Pharazon attacked Valinor, causing the fall of Númenor, Elendil led the humans and Palantíri to safety on the mainland. In doing so, he saved the bloodline of the Dúnedain Númenors.

Together with his children, Elendil founded the kingdoms of Gondor and Arnor. As High King in the Second Age, he joined Gil-galad and the Elves in the Battle of the Last Alliance to destroy Sauron. Elendil fell during the siege of Barad-dur, but his son Isildur was able to steal the one ring from Sauron. The white flower Alfirin later grew from Elendil’s grave.

Elendil is played by Lloyed Owen in the series. In the film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Peter McKenzie stars in the prologue as an aged Elendil who joins the Last Alliance in battle against Sauron.

Since September 2, 2022, Amazon Prime has been showing the “Lord of the Rings” series “The Rings of Power” Season 1 in the stream. Even before the start, “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” season 2 is already being worked on.
