Our favorite galaxy far, far away may not be that far away. Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, has indeed specified the release window for the next Star Wars centered on Grogu and the Mandalorian. And the film should hit the screens… from 2026!

See you on May 20, 2026?

As confirmed by our colleagues at Collider, it was during a meeting with shareholders that Bob Iger revealed that the film entitled The Mandalorian & Grogu would be the next feature film in the galactic saga to be released in cinemas, “before previously confirmed films”.

Information which therefore places Baby Yoda’s first cinema adventure before Star Wars: New Jedi Order by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi by James Mangold and the as-yet-untitled film directed by Dave Filoni.

Currently, the three release dates Lucasfilm has blocked for Star Wars films are May 20, 2026, December 16, 2026, and December 17, 2027. So that means that The Mandalorian & Grogu should be released in May 2026, although we are still awaiting confirmation from Disney.

Story details are still unknown, but the film is expected to be a continuation of the events of The Mandalorian season 3, broadcast last year.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will be directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Manthe live action remake of Jungle Book) and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni. Of course, Pedro Pascal will reprise his role as Mando. Filming is planned for sometime in 2024.

Note that the still untitled film directed by Dave Filoni will conclude the narrative arcs of the various Star Wars series – The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, Skeleton Crew — and should therefore be a direct sequel to The Mandalorian & Grogu.

All the programs in the saga Star Wars are visible in streaming on the Disney+ platform.
