The fourth season of “The Mandalorian” is eagerly awaited, but the new episodes are a long time coming. Other productions have priority, and the death of an actor also shakes the Disney+ series.
- “The Mandalorian” is set to have a fourth season.
- But the production of the Disney+ series is delayed.
- A film is scheduled to be released beforehand and will go into production in spring 2024.
The finale of “The Mandalorian” Season 3 on Disney+ sent Gorgu and Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) on new adventures. However, fans of Din and Grogu, formerly known as Baby Yoda, will have to wait longer until we see them. First of all there will probably be a film called “The Mandalorian & Grogu” before we see more in a fourth season.
The end of the third season promises more adventures and showrunner Jon Favreau has already confirmed that he is already writing the new episodes. He emphasized that the events of “Star Wars: Ahsoka” will also play an important role. The series has been renewed for a second season, which could perhaps even start before season 4 of “The Mandalorian”.

The Mandalorian Season 4: When will Mando and Grogu return?
A start date for “The Mandalorian” season 4 has not yet been set. New episodes are not expected before 2025. But an appearance of our favorite duo in another series like “Ahsoka” or “Skeleton Crew” cannot be ruled out. After all, the three series take place at the same time in the “Star Wars” chronology.
Star Wars: What is “The Mandalorian” Season 4 about?
The finale of the third season promises a return to the roots: Din Djarin and Grogu have to complete various missions in the bounty hunting business. So there will most likely be more episodic stories than in the third season that can stand on their own.
It should be noted that Mando wants to hunt down the surviving followers of the Empire in the Outer Rim. No matter how episodic the new episodes will be, there will always be a connection to the overarching plot.
The Mandalorian Season 4: Cast & Production
Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us”) will of course be heard again as Mando. Since Grogu doesn’t have an actor, the protagonist duo would be complete. Paul Sun Hyung Lee (“Avatar: The Last Airbender”), who gives Mando his orders as Carson Teva, will also probably return in the fourth season.
Carl Weathers (“Rocky”) would probably also have returned in the new season. However, the Greef Karga actor died on February 1, 2024 at the age of 76. On his Instagram profile, lead actor Pedro Pascal expressed his dismay at the sudden death of his colleague.
Giancarlo Esposito (“The Gentlemen”) will most likely not return as Moff Gideon either. His story got a relatively well-rounded ending in season 3 and since Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) became the new main villain of his time in “Ahsoka”, there is probably no more room for Gideon.
