  • Din Djarin has wielded the Darksaber since the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian.
  • However, in “The Book of Boba Fett” Mando had serious problems wielding the lightsaber.
  • Rogue Moff Gideon had comparatively few problems wielding the Darksaber. Why?

It’s still a while before the start of “The Mandalorian” season 3 on Disney + in the stream. But the waiting time until the new season about Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu aka Baby Yoda was sweetened at least by “The Book of Boba Fett”. Because there both have returned and have given an insight into Din Djarin’s life.

We see him learning to use the darksaber. He had taken the weapon from Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) in battle, unaware that by wielding the Darksaber he would become the ruler of Mandalore. However, the more Mando uses the Darksaber, the harder it becomes.

It even happens that Mando injures himself with the sword. The blacksmith (Emily Swallow) then explains to him that he is fighting the sword. Moff Gideon didn’t have these darksaber problems. Why is that so?

While Mando’s thoughts are with Grogu, he is questioning the values of his own order and still searching for his place in the galaxy, Moff Gideon has a clear goal in mind: the restoration of the Empire. His thoughts are clear, he has no doubts and therefore he can use the sword more purposefully.

However, we can also tell from Gideon’s fighting style that he was never trained to use a lightsaber. His punches are rough and powerful, but not very technical. He relies on using his strength to bring his opponent down, not a well-aimed punch.

So he doesn’t necessarily need the technical sophistication to wield the sword. Mando, on the other hand, relies on certain tricks and methods in his entire fighting technique and does not lash out wildly. He reconsiders his attacks and that is what initially stands in his way when using the Darksaber.

It is not yet known when the third season of “The Mandalorian” will start in the Disney + novelty program. First of all, other “Star Wars” releases await us. For example, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” will start in May 2022. If you want to prepare for the start of the series with a marathon, we will provide you with the correct “Star Wars” order!
