Unusual acquisition, but logical, in the industry of the audio products: the manufacturer of the speakers, headphones and intras Marshall offers the company… Marshall.

Marshall Amplification is acquired by Zound Industries, a Swedish company which was already working closely with the renowned British brand. The latter has been manufacturing speakers, headphones and in-ear headphones for years, marketed under the Marshall name through a license agreement between the two entities.

More than 10 years of common experience

Marshall Amplification became known to music lovers for their amplifiers and other audio-related accessories, but the company’s attempts to diversify rarely paid off. So much so that for 12 years, it has entrusted the design and production of certain product lines to Zound Industries on the white label model.

It is therefore not surprising to see Zound Industries acquire Marshall Amplification. In addition to stopping the payment of license fees to use the Marshall brand, which will now belong to it, Zound Industries is getting its hands on some engineering expertise.

Moreover, its Marshall-stamped devices have so far been systematically approved by Marshall Amplification experts, breathes Jeremy de Maillard, CEO of Zound Industries, to the media. The Verge.

The Creation of a Great Marshall Group

“Zound makes products for listening to music, and Marshall makes products for making music or playing music”, specifies the manager, which makes them de facto very complementary companies. According to him, the merger will not significantly change the way his teams work since the two organizations, which now form one, were already moving forward hand in hand.

If it is indeed Zound Industries which absorbs Marshall Amplification, it is the name of the latter, much better known to the general public, which will survive, to create the Marshall group. According to Jeremy de Maillard, who will head this new body, 90% of Zound Industries’ revenues came from the sale of Marshall brand products.

The exact financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but we do know that the Marshall family will serve as the majority shareholder with a 24% stake.
