The Marvels: the post-credits scene announces something huge!

Have you seen “The Marvels” in the cinema and are you wondering what the ending and the post-credits scene mean and what impact it has on the MCU? We’ll explain it to you.

Warning, this article contains spoilers for the ending of “The Marvels”. If you haven’t seen the film yet, it’s best not to read any further.

Currently in cinemas, The Marvels is carried by not one, but three superheroines. Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), must deal with the unforeseen consequences of her victory against the Kree. During a mission that propels her into a strange vortex closely linked to the actions of a Kree revolutionary, her powers mix with those of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) – aka Miss Marvel and those of her “niece », Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), now an astronaut within SABER

If at the beginning of the film the three heroines are forced to collaborate, at the end of the feature film, each finds their own powers. Everything returns to normal and Carol, Monica and Kamala are no longer forced to work together.

If Carol decides to repair her past mistakes, Kamala for her part seems to have taken a liking to adventure. Excited by being a superhero and the idea of collaborating with her idol Captain Marvel, the young Kamala Khan nevertheless realized that her powers and abilities were not as important as those of Carol and that mutual aid was essential.

At the end of the feature film, the latter goes to Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), the new Hawkeye discovered in the Disney+ series, and offers to form a team. The young girl from Jersey City tells him that she also plans to make this proposal to Ant-Man’s daughter. As a reminder, the daughter of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), played by Kathryn Newton in the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is Stature, a superhero capable of increasing her size.

This final scene announces the upcoming arrival in the MCU of the Young Avengers. Marvel had already “sown seeds” (the expression is from Kevin Feige) in its previous productions, and the sequence therefore makes it possible to realize the project. But it is especially the post-credit scene that should intrigue spectators.

What does the post-credits scene mean?

At the end of The Marvels, Monica Rambeau sacrifices herself in order to close the gap in space-time opened by Dar-Benn. She ends up on the other side and Carol is unable to save her in time.

But Monica is not dead. During the post-credit scene we find her lying on a hospital bed. When she wakes up, she sees – who she thinks is her deceased mother, played by Lashana Lynch – at her bedside.

But the latter does not recognize her. A doctor then enters the room and when he turns around the spectators realize that it is Hank McCoy known by the nickname The Beast, a mutant who has already appeared several times in the X-Men films. It is also Kelsey Grammer, who already played the role in X-Men: The Last Stand, who plays him in The Marvels.

Monica Rambeau has landed in a parallel universe: that of the X-Men. Information confirmed at the end of the sequence, when the Fauve leaves the room and specifies that he is going to speak with Charles and that we see the door engraved with an X and Lashana Lynch in a jumpsuit. A white jumpsuit with 2 stars.

Who is Binary?

During their conversation, Beast refers to Lashana Lynch as Binary, a name familiar to comic book fans. Created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum, the character Binary first appeared in the comics.Uncanny X-Men #163″ in 1982.

Binary is none other than Captain Marvel’s energy double. Lashana Lynch therefore embodies the equivalent of Captain Marvel in the X-Men universe. In the comics, Carol Danvers wasn’t always Captain Marvel. At one time she was known as Binary and traveled the universe alongside the Star-Jammers, led by the X-Men’s father Cyclops. Brie Larson And Lashana Lynch are therefore two versions of the same character in parallel universes.

The most attentive spectators will have noticed that Lashana Lynch already appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She played a variant of Captain Marvel.

Although Maria Rambeau died in the Marvel universe, the actress should therefore return in the next films in the role of Binary. A role all the more symbolic that in a scene from The MarvelsCarol (Brie Larson) tells Monica that it was her mother Maria who should have become Captain Marvel in her place…

The X-Men arrive in the MCU

The post-credits scene of The Marvels teases the upcoming arrival of mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And this should come to fruition with the release of Deadpool 3, scheduled for release in theaters on July 24, 2024.

Half-shot, Shawn Levy’s film with Ryan Reynolds does indeed include the mutant Wolverine. Hugh Jackman also revealed that he had a dual role in the film, which confirms that the heroes from different universes should come together. We also know that Elektra, played by Jennifer Garner, should be in the sequel to the adventures of Deadpool.

Monica Rambeau has therefore landed in the X-Men universe and will probably be in the casting of Deadpool 3 which marks the arrival of anti-hero Wade Wilson in the MCU.

It’s very exciting. The X-Men are as solid, rich and brilliant a concept as the characters that exist. The animated series will return next year and we are very excited about it. I’ve seen a few new episodes that really take you back to the heart of who the X-Men are and what these characters represent. People will see what it’s like in live-action films. Maybe soon.”

After the post-credit scene of The Marvels and Deadpool 3the X-men could therefore return to the big screen very soon.
