The Marvels trailer: body swap and shock trio between Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel and Monica Rambeau

Three heroines who switch places when they use their powers. A Nick Fury back in the movies. A cracking universe: “The Marvels” is not expected until November, but its trailer is already there.

The Walt Disney Pictures

A few months ago, The Marvels was to be one of the blockbusters of the summer, and to compete with Barbie, Oppenheimer and Mission: Impossible 7. But recent upheavals within the House of Ideas, combined with a post- production longer than expected, have pushed back the release of Nia DaCosta’s (Candyman) film to November. Fortunately, its first trailer is already here.

As the feedback from spectators present at the last Comic-Con in San Diego indicated, and in the wake of the intriguing post-credits scene of the finale of season 1 of Ms. Marvel, it will be a question of body swap here. Or rather swap space.

Endowed with the same powers, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) exchange their respective places as soon as one of them uses them. And the first images suggest some nice moments of comedy. Within a universe that goes haywire in the face of this super-heroic paradox, of course. And who could, why not, promote the integration of the X-Men and 4 Fantastic in the MCU.

COSMIC GIRLS

Expected on November 8 in French theaters, The Marvels therefore promises to be both cosmic and comic. And the trailer, which is more of a teaser, emphasizes tone more than plot. Or the place occupied by the villain played by Zawe Ashton, who we see at the end and who will obviously have to face the three heroines at the same time.

“Teaming up changes everyone…”, can we read in these images punctuated by a remix of the Beastie Boys and in which we meet Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who will obviously have an important role. And Goose, the feline-looking alien, who will be back, at least for one scene. For the rest, see you in the next trailer. Or in theaters, in November.
