A few days before the start of the TV show “The Masked Dancer”, the first masks were unveiled: the firefly, the monkey and Maximum Power.
The first edition of the new “The Masked Singer” show offshoot “The Masked Dancer” starts live on ProSieben on Thursday (January 6th, 8:15 pm). The station has now announced the first three of the total of seven masks.
Fireflies, Monkeys and Maximum Power
These are the firefly, the monkey and Maximum Power.
“The helpful creature uses its light wherever it is needed,” says the glowworm, which waits longingly for the night, because the night owl glows when it dances. The monkey, on the other hand, has rhythm in his blood: “His stomach is his bass drum, he always has his cymbals at hand and he creates wild rhythms on his chest”, so the description.
And when it comes to maximum power, the station announces: “Once it has started up its system, nothing can stop it. It only knows the superlatives and pulsates full of energy.”
Alexander Klaws and Steven Gätjen on the advice team
The last two of the seven costumes won’t be revealed until the opening show. Alexander Klaws (38), who won the last season of “The Masked Singer” as Mülli Müller, presenter Steven Gätjen (49) and one guest each try to solve the riddle on the advice team.
“I’m really looking forward to getting to know the other side,” says Alexander Klaws. “I know from my own experience how it goes backstage. That helps if you can feel what is going on under the masks. But I won’t relax there either – I’ll suffer a lot while guessing,” he admits. He is very curious to see how the celebrities use their physicality to bring the masks to life and conjure up something magical on the stage, “he continues.
“When singing, you can still deduce something from the accent, dialect or vocal range. When dancing you are of course dependent on completely different things,” says Steven Gätjen. You have to pay attention to every nuance. “I believe that dance performances are about looking at how the stage is set up and what kind of hidden clues are hidden there,” the moderator continued. Perhaps one can find a clear or hidden reference to the star under the mask in the movement sequences, the selection of music and choreographies. “All of this is a huge challenge. You have to do more detective work, but I like that,” he enthuses about his new job.
As usual, Matthias Opdenhövel (51) will lead the show.
