“The Masked Singer”, probably the most psychedelic show on German television, started its tenth season on Saturday evening (April 6th) on ProSieben. The new rate team Palina Rojinski, 38, and Rick Kavanian, 53, were joined by Max Giesinger, 35, as a rate guest in the first show.

Eight celebrities presented themselves in elaborate costumes on the show: Flea, Crocodile, Robodog, Flip Flop, Baby Lion, Cotton Candy, Couch Potato and Elgonia. After just one performance, the Couch Potato was voted out by the audience and unmasked. It was Hugo Egon Balder, 74. “It was a great experience, I’m 74 now, I’ve already noticed what it’s like in the coffin,” said the presenter, summing up his experience with the full-body costume.

From flea to flip flop: These are the other costumes in “The Masked Singer”

The show began with the flea, who rode onto the stage on a snail, performed “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and inspired the rate team to come up with names like Anke Engelke, 58, or Heike Makatsch, 52. Like them Evidence of beach toys and the Venus and Mars symbols that match them is still unclear.

This was followed by the scary crocodile, which seems to have something to do with computer games, as the film suggested. On stage they performed “Demons” by Imagine Dragons somewhat breathlessly. Rojinski guessed live streamer MontanaBlack, 36, or YouTuber Jens “Knossi” Knossalla, 37.

Robodog is said to have had something to do with the music channel Viva and is more likely to be a dog than a dog, judging by the singing voice. After her performance by Sarah Connors, 43, “From Zero to Hero”, the rate team threw the name Collien Ulmen-Fernandes, 42, into the room.

Is Pietro Lombardi the flip flop?

The Flip Flop then spread holiday spirit with “Livin’ La Vida Loca” and dancers wobbling around the stage with plastic palm trees on their heads. The voice suggested a professional singer, which is why Giesinger guessed Pietro Lombardi, 31, and Rojinski guessed Oli.P, 45.

The baby lion introduced himself next – with a golf certificate and “a childhood of adventure and imagination.” During the performance of “Big Big Girl” it quickly became clear that this was not a full-time musician. Kavanian suspected actress Gisela Schneeberger, 75, while Giesinger saw Judith Williams, 52, from “The Lions’ Den.”

A cloud of cotton candy appeared next. In real life, she described herself as a storyteller who spreads joy and likes things “flowery.” After Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”, the guessing celebrities quickly agreed on the tip of Enie van de Meiklokjes, 49.

The last mask was “the harbinger of spring” Elgonia, who gave a pocket fan as a reference to her person and her dress could make Daenerys from “Game of Thrones” jealous. The mythical creature, decorated with cherry blossoms, sang Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose.” Giesinger was convinced that Nadja Benaissa, 41, from the No Angels could be hiding under the costume.

Second unmasking: Rolando Villazón as “The Mystery”

Hugo Egon Balder wasn’t the only celebrity who was exposed this time. New this season is the mystery, a “changing mask” under which a new celebrity is hidden every week. The dark bird with drawing skills turned out to be opera singer Rolando Villazón, 52, in the first episode after a performance of Queen’s “Somebody to Love”. However, the most important question for the next mystery celebrities was not clarified. Moderator Matthias Opdenhövel, 53: “Maybe we’ll wash the costume too, who knows?”
