On Sunday evening, a star on “The Masked Singer” was involuntarily almost unmasked – and has since caused hot speculation among the jury and online.

The second edition of the current ninth season of “The Masked Singer” took place on Sunday evening on ProSieben. After a mega mishap and near unmasking at the Kiwi, the fire extinguisher had to unmask at the end of the show. Model was underneath Eva Padberg, 43.

“The Masked Singer”: Breakdown with the Kiwi – celebrity exposed in advance?

Even before Eva Padberg’s performance, there was a small faux pas live on stage that caused a lot of fuss. The Kiwi gave his performance to Patrick Swayze’s hit “She’s Like the Wind”. In keeping with the song title, wind machines provided a good breeze on the stage – but they suddenly blew the Kiwi’s head off. However, since the celebrity underneath was only visible for about a second, people within the live show weren’t entirely sure who it could be. Heiner Lauterbach, 70, had a guess: “I would say it’s Uwe Ochsenknecht.”

Fans of the show also claim to have recognized the same thing, sharing their theories about the New Zealand bird on X (formerly Twitter) and all coming to the conclusion that the animal must be Uwe Ochsenknecht, 67. In addition to the gust of wind that caused the mask to be lost, a user also claims that it was clear before the breakdown that the actor had to be in the costume. The reason: his singing in the musical film “I’ve Never Been to New York”. She probably recognized his voice. While most people suspect the 67-year-old, there are also voices that imagine Joachim Llambi, 59, as the Kiwi. It is not yet known who is actually under the costume.

The jury remains cautious

While the fans formed their theories, moderator Matthias Opdenhövel, 53, and the jury remained calm and acted as if nothing had happened. This wasn’t particularly well received by the audience, who wrote on Twitter, among other things, that “Uwe can actually take his head off straight away.” Another person noted: “Next week we can listen to weird advice. Even though the whole nation knows that Uwe is the Kiwi.” In the end, it wasn’t the kiwi that flew out, but the fire extinguisher that Eva Padberg was under.

The advice team had the right nose

Whether Uwe Ochsenknecht or not, the jury seems to have the right feeling for the candidates, because after the appearance of the fire extinguisher who sang “I Love It” by Icona Pop on stage, they immediately have a theory about the star behind the mask. Rate guest Heiner Lauterbach suggested that the red XXL costume could be a model. He sensed the model qualities: “Nadja Auermann, Eva Padberg. I know them both, but I don’t know how they sing. That almost has to be a model given her size.”

The size wasn’t lost on Alvaro Soler, 32: “You’re already very big for a woman!” The singer wondered whether Stefanie Giesinger, 27, could be under the mask. Ruth Moschner, 47, named other names, including Lena Gercke, 35, and Sonya Kraus, 50. Most of the viewers had guessed comedian Tahnee, 31, or presenter Jana Ina Zarrella, 46, in the ranking.

In the end, guest judge Heiner Lauterbach was right. After her unmasking, Padberg explained that she had a lot of fun with the project: “It’s like being in a toy store here.” The only thing she found extremely difficult was keeping it a secret from her relatives: “It makes you feel bad. I’m sorry.”

The next episode of “The Masked Singer” will be broadcast live on ProSieben and Joyn next Saturday (December 2nd) from 8:15 p.m.
