Envisioned as a spearhead for the Xbox Series X|S, then delayed to release in early December 2020 and further pushed back to avoid arriving at the same time as Cyberpunk 2077, The Medium finally came out early last yearand it must be admitted that it was quickly forgotten.
Although interesting with its art direction inspired by Zdzisław Beksiński and its mechanics opposing two worlds, The Medium suffered from a somewhat too slow pace and a gameplay heavy. But Bloober Teamthe Polish studio behind this title (and Layers of Fear) still wants to keep the franchise going, through a new medium. The Krakow studio announces indeed a collaboration with Platige Image for “the preparation, development and co-production of a series based on The Medium”. If you don’t know that name, it’s an animation studio that made Cathedral in 2002, short film nominated for a Oscar. And above all, he is behind the cinematics of the games The Witcher of CD ProjectBesides, the director of Platige Image is Tomasz Bagińskiresponsible for videos of the games with Geralt of Rivia and series executive producer The Witcher of netflix. He will thus be the supervisor of this series The Mediumalongside Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team. The latter explains in a statement that after the successes ofArcane and Cyberpunk: Edge Runnersit’s the perfect time to produce a new series based on a video game.
This series project The Medium is only in its infancy, we will probably have to wait a long time before discovering the first images. As a reminder, the video game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, which you can find at €39.99 on Amazon.
