Guest of the morning of Europe 1, the Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt mentioned the holding of debates in the National Assembly on the various bills wanted by the executive. At the microphone of Thierry Dagiral, he confided having “rarely seen so much excess” and hopes for more peaceful discussions at the start of the school year.

The Minister of Labor hardly tastes the current atmosphere of the National Assembly. While the debates are raging in the hemicycle around the various bills carried by the majority, Olivier Dussopt castigated on Europe 1 the violence which could emanate from these exchanges. “I have rarely seen such a spectacle but the word is not well chosen. I have rarely seen so much excess”, he denounced.

The Minister is referring here to the vehement protests of part of the opposition during the discussions on the various bills. The one on purchasing power in particular sparked lively discussions before being finally adopted. “I consider that the best debates are those that are respectful,” said Olivier Dussopt. The question of the abolition of the TV license fee, set at 138 euros per year and per household, has caused an outcry on the left. Several Nupes deputies accused the government of wanting to “dismantle public broadcasting”. The measure was finally approved.

The hope of calmer debates at the start of the school year

The opposition also fell apart with the majority concerning the envelope of 500 million euros for the revaluation of retirement pensions, wanted by this same opposition. A provision finally rejected after a second deliberation required by the deputies of Renaissance. A “passage in force”, denounced the deputy LFI Eric Coquerel.

Heated debates therefore but Olivier Dussopt nevertheless wants to be optimistic. “I do not despair that at the start of the school year, things will be more peaceful”. Until then, the pace should decrease in intensity within the hemicycle. For several weeks, the agenda has been particularly dense and parliamentarians are starting to stick their tongues out. Difficult under these conditions to maintain a serene atmosphere in the ranks of the Assembly.
