To further attract young people, the Ministry of the Armed Forces is crossing a new frontier, by launching a virtual space in the metaverse. For what result?

The Ministry of the Armed Forces announced to us, this Monday, October 30, that it had inaugurated its first foray into the metaverse by creating a virtual space on the Decentraland platform, open to the public for the next three months. The objective is simple: to immerse the generation of 18-35 year olds in the military world, to present in a fun way the measures in favor of youth, and to highlight the different professions available. And I might as well say it straight away, it’s not a sure thing…

The Ministry of the Armed Forces wants to attract young people

The ministry is banking on this first experience in the metaverse to arouse the interest of younger generations, and attract new candidates, in particular, as you can well imagine, in professions in shortage.

The virtual space offers participants an obstacle course made up of three zones: youth, culture and recruitment. Inside, they can access information and videos, then take a quiz to win virtual rewards.

The space in Decentraland covers a range of topics, including army-youth arrangements as well as civic service offerings. The ministry’s “My Job Glasses” ambassadors are highlighted, focusing on digital professions and information and communication systems.

In the metaverse, the ministry also directs players to job offers via the ministry’s Welcome to the Jungle recruitment site, a well-known Clubic site, which answers questions relating to cybersecurity. And the virtual space offers a journey that highlights public and private funds little known to the general public.

Supported by the Delegation for Ministerial Transformation and Performance (DTPM), the Ministry of the Armed Forces’ experimentation received the label from the Defense Innovation Agency (AID).

If the design of the Decentraland platform is close to the catastrophic level, this first foray of the Ministry of the Armed Forces into the metaverse remains an original approach to further reach young people. She highlights the growing importance of virtual platforms for government institutions seeking talent and engagement from younger generations.
