The Minister of the Armed Forces launches the first hackathon dedicated to artificial intelligence. This will take place from April 23 to 25 and will pit the best French students in the subject against each other.
This is an interesting initiative proposed by the Ministry of the Armed Forces, which highlights artificial intelligence. From April 23 to 25, 2024, in other words next week, 130 students will take on the “IA DATA HACK” challenge, a hackathon which will reward the best talents in the discipline, who have a golden opportunity to test their skills.
130 students coached by artificial intelligence experts
To echo the ministerial strategy on artificial intelligence, the DTPM, the Ministerial Transformation and Performance Delegation, will host the very first AI hackathon of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, within the Albert School. , a school focused on data, partly financed by Xavier Niel, the father of Free. With the idea of soliciting collective intelligence to overcome obstacles and bring about solutions.
The event, which will last three days, will bring together 130 students (bachelor data and business or engineer in data science and AI) who will be coached by experts in the field, with various challenges planned throughout the hackathon. Everything will be done in the presence of the highest authorities in the field of AI from the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
The director of the Ministerial Agency for Artificial Intelligence in Defense (AMIAD), Bertrand Rondepierre, will chair the jury and present the awards to the winners on the evening of April 25. Let’s see how this will happen in detail.
Several elite schools represented
Four establishments will be represented. In addition to students from the Albert School, those from the school of computer intelligence engineers (EPITA), the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (ENSTA) and the ECE engineering school will have the opportunity to shine. Strategic partners of the State such as OpenLLM France, a consortium specializing in generative AI, and INSEE, will be involved.
Different masterclasses will be led by experts, on the sidelines of the event. Their themes will be annotation, detection of similar objects in computer vision, multimodal analysis, RAGS (augmented generation by recovery) which make it possible to optimize the precision and reliability of large language models (LLM) .
Teams will be announced at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, the first day of the event. Then the hackathon will start at exactly 10:30 a.m. The competition will end on Thursday April 25, at 10:00 p.m.
