The next connected watch of the luxury brand could be worn by iPhone users, but with some limitations.
It’s been several years since Montblanc, known for its luxury pens and leather goods, entered the smartwatch market with the Summit range.
A new, meticulously designed premium connected watch
In a few days, the now manufacturer will offer its Montblanc Summit 3, its latest version, after the Montblanc Summit 2+ that we were able to test in 2021.
This new iteration will offer a round screen with a size of 42 mm with an AMOLED screen with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels. The case is made of titanium, for a premium look inspired by watchmaking.
Inside the device, there will also be 8 GB of storage, 1 GB of RAM and a Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chip to navigate through the various applications offered by the manufacturer and third-party publishers.
Connection possible but limited with iOS
This connected watch will also have the particularity of carrying with it Wear OS 3, the latest version of Google’s operating system for connected watches. For now, only the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 also includes this new OS.
The Montblanc Summit 3 will also have the option of being usable by both Android and iOS smartphone owners. If the brand has not directly confirmed this possibility, Qualcomm, which provides the Snapdragon chip for the watch, indicates that its component will not be limited to the Google OS alone and may be linked to that of Apple.
Be careful however, the experience offered will be far, very far even, from that offered by an Apple Watch. iOS isn’t the most open system, and you would expect only notifications to be displayed on the wrist, with no option to respond to a message or call from the watch. It’s thin, but it can still be enough for a clientele for whom style comes before functionality.
The Montblanc Summit 3 is available for pre-order on the brand’s website and will be available within a few days at a starting price of 1,260 euros.
