The Murena 2 aims to be “ the first smartphone for everyone with an anti-snoop switch “. And it’s a hit on Kickstarter.
Concerned about protecting users’ privacy as much as possible, Murena has developed a brand new smartphone, which promises to free itself from Google on the one hand, in favor of a proprietary operating system. Added to this is the presence of a physical switch, which allows you to disconnect several intrusive features, starting with the camera or even the microphone of the smartphone.
Murena 2, the smartphone with a privacy switch
With Murena 2, the brand wants to provide a smartphone that allows you to protect your privacy with the snap of your fingers. This involves a dedicated open source OS (e/OS), completely deGooglized, which is intended to be stable and secure, and which notably allows you to control trackers, hide your IP address, use a VPN… But this is not not all !
Indeed, the “Privacy” switch, located on the left side of the smartphone, allows you to interrupt the operation of the smartphone’s camera and microphones. To put them back into service, simply flip the switch up again.
On the right side of the smartphone, we find another switch, “Tranquility”, aimed at cutting off all forms of connectivity and sounds.
A “de-Googlized” smartphone, but Android compatible
The brand promises that its Murena 2 is a smartphone designed for everyday life, but with enhanced privacy protection. The smartphone comes with various essential applications, such as Mail, Calendar, Notes or even Maps, and allows you to browse the Web, without forgetting of course the possibility of making and receiving calls, in addition to valuable text messages and other emails.
Despite its “unGoogled” side, the Murena 2 is compatible with Android, and thus allows access to many additional applications. For the rest, we find here a 6.4″ AMOLED panel in Full HD+ quality, without forgetting an octa-core CPU associated with 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB storage (expandable via microSD).
