The Mysteries of love: Cathy Andrieu’s criticism of the sex scenes swept away by Jean-Luc Azoulay

In the columns of Tout la télé, Jean-Luc Azoulay responded to criticism from Cathy Andrieu. The actress regretted that there was too much sex in the Mysteries of love.

Rififi within the casting of the Mysteries of love? It would seem… A few days ago in the columns of All TV, Cathy Andrieu did not hesitate to criticize the screenplay choices in the series. The actress seems tired of the trouple that her character forms with Alban (Olivier Valverde) and Béatrice (Julie Chevellier). “Jean-Luc Azoulay (Azoulay, the producer, editor’s note) has a lot of fun and goes wild. He has a vision for the whole, which we don’t have as actors. It’s always interesting to to defend things, which are very far from her own personality. I put a lot of love in the character of Cathy, she regretted. We talk a lot about sex in the series, but I like to work on this affective and romantic side even if it’s in groups. Except that there, Cathy does not want this trouple with Alban…”

In this interview, she went even further. “I didn’t want this new troupe. I wanted there to be other stories. Why not have Cathy live a real story with Béatrice? Go back to purely sexual stories, personally I didn’t have any I don’t want to. I think there were other things to say. But after that, I don’t have the finality. I don’t know where it will take us”, added the former wife of David Proux. His desire for the future? “That Cathy rebels. She is not submissive, but suffers more and more. It was not at all that at the start. I would like Jean-Luc Azoulay to write something where all of a sudden, Cathy is going to piss everyone off”. But obviously, his opinion is not shared by Jean-Luc Azoulay who answered him in the columns of our colleagues, Sunday July 3.

Jean-Luc Azoulay: “It’s called The Mysteries of Love, not The Mysteries of Paris”

According to him, this trouple is a way of representing the mores that have evolved since the beginning of The Mysteries of Love.. “It’s more modern love, with strange couples, so I try to keep up with the times. It’s not a radical change. There are always love stories and stories of sex because it goes with love, not always, but from time to time. It’s called The Mysteries of Love, not The Mysteries of Paris”, the historic producer of AB got annoyed with All TV. As for the criticisms formulated by Cathy Andrieu, Jean-Luc Azoulay does not want to spread : “It’s his problem. Actors, they always have ideas, but their role is to play what they are told to play”. Good atmosphere in the Mysteries of love…
