The Île-de-France region continues its big bang in public transport before the Olympics The Navigo Liberté+ pass will arrive on Android with preferential rates. We will explain everything to you.
Do you want to avoid paying full price for your public transport tickets during the Olympics? There is already a method for this, but Île-de-France Mobilités has just announced a new one. The Navigo Liberté+ Pass will be dematerialized on Android and offer preferential rates, in addition to extending to all France’s Island.
Travel anywhere for less
The Liberté+ package is an “à la carte” formula of the Navigo pass. That is to say, instead of paying a fixed rate per month, the service only charges you for the number of journeys made, at the rate of a ticket from a booklet (€1.73) and not not a single ticket (€2.15). Problem is, this formula is only available for intramural rail as well as buses and trams. And it requires you to have a Navigo card in your wallet. But all these limitations will soon disappear.
The Île-de-France Mobilités “Lab”, a unit dedicated to testing new technologies in transport, announced that the pass would soon arrive on Android phones and be extended to travel throughout the Île-de-France Mobilités. of France. Concretely, you will soon be able to use your Android smartphone to travel anywhere on the region’s rail network at a more attractive price than if you bought individual tickets. A trip between zones 1 to 5 will cost you, for example, €4 instead of €5 if you bought a ticket at the terminals.
A limited experiment at the moment
For the moment unfortunately, this expansion of the validity area of the pass and its dematerialization are only accessible to a small handful of hand-picked testers. You must in fact be equipped with an Android smartphone equipped with an NFC chip, register for the experiment (which has closed the invitations for the moment) and be chosen by Comutitres before receiving the precious sesame on your phone.
That said, the generalization of the experiment should take place in the coming weeks, probably at the beginning of July to avoid the rush of the Olympics at the ticket offices. No doubt iPhones, which should finally be able to serve as transport tickets, will then also be eligible. Daily ceilings will then be put in place (which are not part of the current experiment) which will also allow you to limit the cost of your travel per day, even if you make a large number of journeys.
