The American company would be on the verge of revealing its entry-level car. Designed on a new platform, it would have a design close to that of the Cybertruck.
This car planned by Tesla is already in preparation. This new iteration of the company was designed to be affordable and occupy the segment of small city cars, still unconquered by the brand. The first preparatory drawings that we were able to see showed a rather plump and aerodynamic vehicle (see image below). Ultimately, the design of this one would be closer to the Cybertruck pick-up.
A futuristic design that won’t please everyone
Contrary to what was planned, the future small city car should therefore sport an angular overall line if we are to believe Tesla’s latest statements. A choice that will be far from unanimous, since the Cybertruck has been widely mocked for its appearance since its announcement in 2019. A true Arlesian, it would nevertheless be on the verge of entering production.
It’s always difficult to know on which foot to dance in front of the Tesla news. Widely accustomed to announcement effects, the company has even become the world’s leading specialist. On the other hand, you can’t take away his success when his models actually come out and sell like hotcakes. The record sales of the Model Y are proof of this.
A truly affordable Tesla?
This is far from Tesla’s first announcement regarding a price-restricted car. The famous $25,000 car had already been promised by Musk in 2018, with the ambition of realizing it in three years. Two years later, the same was true for the Model 3, which Elon Musk wanted to sell for $35,000. This was the case for a few months, but then the company completely revised its strategy and increased the sales price of the model.
Unsurprisingly, no official launch date was given. First step before that: the revelation of the final design which should be done soon. For the actual price, we will have to wait a little longer. In any case, given the current market dynamics of the automobile industry, it seems difficult to imagine an electric car at such a low cost.
