A year and a half after its initial announcement, Warcraft Rumble is now available for free download on Android and iOS smartphones. During Blizzcon, which is being held this weekend in Anaheim, California, publisher Blizzard finally opened the doors to its mobile game.

Warcraft Rumble is a free-to-play Blizzard game largely inspired by Clash Royale from the Supercell studio. Players face off one-on-one on a small field in which they can position their units as their gold resources are increased. Obviously, different types of units are offered. The objective is then to destroy the opposing tower with units that will move automatically. The principle of the game therefore relies more on the strategic aspect and management, like a tower defense — Blizzard describes its game as “ tower offense » — rather than on unit control itself. This results in rather quick games, lasting less than five to ten minutes depending on the difficulty level.

The game can be played against the machine or against other players, online. In addition, five factions are offered, each with their special units and their specific style of play: the Alliance, the Horde, the Beasts, Blackrock or the Undead.

A new mobile game for Microsoft

The arrival of Warcraft Rumble on smartphones comes as the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard-King by Microsoft is now complete. It must be said that in addition to Activision’s large licenses, such as Call of Duty Or Overwatch, Microsoft was counting on this acquisition to gain a foothold in mobile gaming. In addition to Candy Crush Saga, Activision has become a mobile gaming giant with several licenses from Blizzard. We include in particular Hearthstoneanother game adapted from the franchise Warcraftbut also Diablo Immortal and now Warcraft Rumble.

Waracraft Rumble is available to download for free on Android and iOS since Friday, November 3. The game will, however, require micropayments to benefit from more rewards or obtain new units more easily.
