The film Planet of the Apes 4: The New Kingdom offers a breathtaking new trailer. A strong return of the cult saga despite doubts?
Planet of the Apes is a seminal piece of science fiction. A work which made its debut in literature, before being exported to cinema for a first film in 1968 with Charlton Heston. Since then, Tim Burton broke his teeth on it in 2001, his feature film having been a critical failure. Quite the opposite of Matt Reeves’ last trilogy (The Batman) which fully convinced spectators and the box office. After a rather moving ending, the license is relaunched under the aegis of Disney with the hope of developing several new episodes.
Planet of the Apes 4 is showing up, it’s very exciting!
Usher and Alicia Keys ignited the halftime show of the 2024 Super Bowl, but the Kansas City Chiefs match against the San Francisco 49ers was also interspersed with advertisements and big trailers. And several Hollywood blockbusters have made the show like Deadpool 3 or Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom. A new part which will start, if all goes well, a third series of films. But we’re not there yet, and for now, it’s time for the next opus.
“Several generations after Caesar’s reign, the apes definitely took power. Humans, for their part, have regressed to the wild state and live in seclusion. As a new tyrannical leader gradually builds his empire, a young ape embarks on a perilous journey that will lead him to question everything he knows about the past and make choices that will define the future of apes and humans. …”. As the synopsis reveals, Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom takes place after Matt Reeves’ trilogy, 300 years later to be precise.
But this time, the filmmaker left the hand to Wes Ball, the director of the Labyrinth feature films. This can be worrying given that this saga is rather inconsistent, but the latest trailer for Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom is still very encouraging. We see Caesar’s replacement who will not hesitate to save a human played by Freya Allan, Ciri in the series The Witcher, with grandiose panoramas and big action scenes, and calmer moments necessary for a good balance .
