The Nimbus One is not Harry Potter’s new broom but an electric three-wheeler

The American start-up Nimbus has launched orders for its Nimbus One, a three-wheeled electric vehicle capable of tilting to better fit into turns. This machine should be confined to the United States at first.

Between the Renault Twizy, the Citroën Ami and the Estrema Biro, micromobility solutions are becoming more and more numerous. The young American shooter Nimbus also wants to add its stone to the building after a fundraising of 4.7 million dollars in August 2021, completed to develop a very particular concept: the Nimbus One.

Fans of the Harry Potter saga won’t miss the more or less deliberate nod to the famous Nimbus 2000 racing broom, which we see for the first time in Harry Potter at the Sorcerer’s Stone. The Nimbus One however has no magical powers and cannot fly at all.

Lightweight

This three-wheeled electric vehicle has been designed above all for urban travel, likely to make life easier for its users thanks to its all-purpose aspect and its restricted size: 2.3 meters long, 80 centimeters wide and a weight of 375 kg. A space behind the driver is able to accommodate a second passenger or some personal effects.

The Nimbus One is not demerit in terms of autonomy, since its 9 kWh battery gives it a range of 150 kilometers. For urban journeys in France, this seems more than enough. In the United States, where the agglomerations are much larger, this scope seems to be justified.

Capable of spinning at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, the Nimbus One wants to be nervous thanks to an acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h in the space of 3 seconds. A tilting system also makes it possible to reverse the vehicle to better register it in bends.

For USA departing

The interior is relatively clean and modern, with a display screen, Bluetooth-connected speakers, electric windows, a phone charger and optional air conditioning. There is also talk of a forward collision warning, points out TechCrunch.

Sold at a price of 9990 dollars or 200 dollars for rental, this Nimbus One is expected during the third quarter of 2022, between July and September. In the USA, all you need is a classic driver’s license to use it. Its deployment will be carried out city by city: for the moment, Europe does not seem concerned.

Citroën has pimped its Ami, and it suits him very well

Citroën declined its Ami… in the middle of December. However, we almost want to go for a walk on the beaches with this 100% electric quadricycle that looks like a buggy.
