Joe Biden releases 6 billion to revive a declining park. An investment that may not be enough.

In a bid to stem the decline of US civilian nuclear power, President Joe Biden authorizes the distribution of $6 billion to a handful of unprofitable power plants. The sum is taken from the 550 billion infrastructure modernization plan voted last November by a bipartisan majority in Congress.
The new program run by the Department of Energy is only an emergency solution. It can turn around the accounts of troubled power plant owners like Public Service Enterprise Group and Constellation Energy Corp. On the other hand, it is not enough to revive a nuclear industry essential to the decarbonization of the economy and the electrification of transport promised by Biden.
