The Oppo Reno 8 could be the OnePlus 10 that the brand did not release

The future Oppo Reno 8 is the subject of new indiscretions on the Chinese platform Weibo, and we can’t help but see in this new design some glaring similarities with what a potential OnePlus 10 could have given, if it had been considered.

After the OnePlus 10 Pro launched internationally, we might have expected the brand to reveal a non-Pro variant like every year alongside its flagship, something it had accustomed us to since the OnePlus 7. was not the case this year.

However, we can now get an idea of what this smartphone could have looked like, thanks to a new leak from a parent brand of OnePlus, namely Oppo with its future Reno 8.

Obvious similarities in design

It was the leaker Digital Chat Station who shared renders on the Chinese platform Weibo as well as certain supposed specifications for the Oppo Reno 8. This smartphone would bear a strong resemblance to the OnePlus 10 Pro without being identical to it. The Oppo Reno 8 would have a 6.55-inch screen without curved edges and would not include a partnership with Hasselblad on its photo module.

It would also incorporate a 50MP main lens as well as a punch-hole front camera located in the upper left corner of the screen. The most striking in all of this is the appearance of the photo module, which is strongly reminiscent of that of the OnePlus 10 Pro.

A growing rapprochement

Oppo and OnePlus are both subsidiaries of the Oplus group and have often in the past been able to share smartphone designs that have turned out to be quite similar such as the OnePlus 8 Pro and the Oppo Find X2 Pro. Every OnePlus smartphone seems to have its counterpart in design on the Oppo side and that should continue. Especially since the two brands announced their merger a few months ago.

Given all these elements, it seems likely that this design could have been that of the OnePlus 10 if OnePlus had decided to launch a non-Pro variant of its smartphone. The Oppo Reno 8 should not use OxygenOS, but the interface of Oppo, that is to say ColorOS. It remains to be seen when and at what price this Oppo Reno 8 could be launched.
