In the podcast The House of HalliwellHolly Marie Combs revealed how she had discovered her tumor during filming. “The tumor was the size of a baseball,” she confided. And to continue: “They had found a fairly large tumor in my uterus during this season, and it was continuing to grow at an unhealthy rate. They were afraid it was cancer, so we had to have it removed.”

Very weakened by the disease, she received the support of her two playing partners, Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano: “We have become very close, all together, during this period.. Shannen was leaving my hospital room, and Alyssa and her mother were entering. When I got home, Alyssa’s mother had cooked me chicken soup and food for the week, as it was a very important operation. The girls really stuck together during that time for me.” she explained.
She also revealed why she chose to keep her illness a secret: “I don’t publicize it a lot. I’m very protective of the show and my role in it, but I’m also very protective of the times we had like this. No one has a clue what Shannen and Alyssa did for me during this time.”, she concluded.
