We told you about it last June, Microsoft had been working for some time on a new update to Paint, its famous graphics tool. Inseparable from Microsoft’s operating systems, Paint is no longer unanimous in the hearts of Windows users. Nevertheless, the Redmond firm would like to thank its most loyal customers by offering them an evolution of its application. On X.com, Brandon LeBlanc, Senior Program Manager at Microsoft, confirmed the deployment of this new Paint update in the stable version of Windows 11.

The developer however specifies that if the update has been published, it will be some time before everyone can have access to it. Note that this is Paint version 11.2304.30.0 and can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft Store.

What’s new in this Paint update?

Regarding the new features of this update, they are not particularly numerous, unlike Windows 11 updates which had brought their share of improvements. On the other hand, you can now switch Paint to dark mode from the application settings without it being attached to your Windows preferences. In addition, new zoom options are now available. In particular, you can have fun zooming in on the image with more precision than in the past.

For more details, here is what Microsoft said in its blog post:

• Dark mode support: Paint now follows your system’s theme preferences. However, you can override this setting and force turn on light or dark mode in the app settings. Note that enabling dark mode does not change the color of the canvas.
• Improved zoom controls now allow you to fine-tune your zoom level with more precision. You can use classic presets, slider or pinch gesture to zoom on touch screen computers. Another zoom-related enhancement is the “Fit to window” option.
