The Paris Stock Exchange rose 0.36% in early trading on Friday, supported by the results of the American giants in the evening on Thursday, and before the monthly report on employment in the United States.
The flagship CAC 40 index advanced 27.29 points to 7,616.04 points around 9:15 a.m. On Thursday, it lost 0.89% to end up penalized by the poor reception of the results from BNP Paribas and Dassault Systèmes.
Over the week, it fell again by 0.26%.
At the end of the meeting of the American Central Bank on Wednesday, it still seems that “employment will be the main determinant of the evolution of American monetary policy in the months to come”, a sudden weakening in these data could lead to the Fed to change gear, explains Christopher Dembik, strategy advisor at Pictet AM.
The official monthly report from the American Department of Labor is expected at 2:30 p.m. to conclude a week already dense with business indicators and results.
But “barring any surprises, the market should still be resilient,” warns Mr. Dembik, with job creation still quite strong and unemployment still close to its historic lows.
On the indicator side in France, industrial production increased by 1.1% over one month in December, and manufacturing production alone by 1.2%, INSEE announced on Friday.
Investors were, however, put in a good mood with the results of Meta and Amazon which surprised favorably, which was then reflected in the trend in Asia and Europe according to Michael Hewson, analyst at CMC Markets.
On the bond market, the interest rate on the 10-year French loan stood at 2.68%, compared to 2.66% at the close on Thursday.
Bad publicity for Publicis
