Google is preparing a new foldable smartphone, and information about it is already starting to circulate. For example, it appears to be one of the largest devices in its class.
A tradition is important. Each new Pixel is revealed weeks, even months, before its release, and we would be very sad if it were otherwise for Google’s next smartphones. Especially since the information that leaks can be quite exhaustive, and allows us to get a taste of what the American giant has in store for us.
It’s a bit like a television series, and the last episode concerning the Pixel Fold 2 does not lack interest.
A rectangle larger than the competition
The screens of Google’s next foldable smartphone will not be 6.4 and 7.9 inches, as previous rumors claimed. No, in a recent tweet (twist + tweet), renowned analyst Ross Young claims on X.com (formerly Twitter) that the Pixel Fold 2 will have a 6.29-inch panel on the outside, and another of 8, 02 inches inside.
This means that we are in the presence of a foldable smartphone that ranks among the largest devices in its category, the Honor Magic V2 offering a maximum diagonal of 7.92 inches, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 not exceeding 7 .6 inches. For its part, the first Pixel Fold is equipped with 5.8 and 7.6 inch screens.
A change in dimensions, therefore, which could also indicate that the Pixel Fold 2 will retain an internal screen format close to its predecessor, namely more rectangular than the competition. A fact which could call into question leaks dating from February.
Still a lot of mystery, but for how long?
Ross Young does not stop there, however, since he adds that production of the Pixel Fold 2 screens will begin in April. It’s difficult, therefore, to imagine that the company will present it to us during the next Google I/O, which could take place in May. However, none of this data has been confirmed by the American giant, so we must remain cautious.
More details about the device are expected to surface in the coming weeks. Like the Pixel 9, Google’s next foldable smartphone could have several differences compared to its predecessor. For example, its camera block should free itself from the strip format characteristic of the range and instead resemble that found on the iPhone 15.
