The police chief supports the continuation of real estate work during the Games under conditions

The Paris police chief, Laurent Nuñez, told AFP on Tuesday that he was studying the different possibilities for real estate work to continue in Ile-de-France during the Paris Olympic Games, protected by traffic security perimeters.

We work a lot with building professionals, the city of Paris, public stakeholders on the possibility of maintaining real estate work throughout the Le-de-France region, explained the prefect, revealing the changes made to traffic restrictions during the Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11) and Paralympic Games (August 28 – September 8) after a first series of consultations.

We are currently working on the conditions under which we can continue to implement real estate works which can have an impact on traffic and the right-of-way of roads. We try to be as flexible as possible, to limit restrictions as much as possible, continued Laurent Nuez.

However, the prefect does not intend to let in trucks that will deliver materials to the red zone while there are flows of pedestrians.

During the Olympics, four security perimeters will be put in place: two protection perimeters (a gray perimeter for spectator and accredited entrances and an anti-terrorist protection perimeter) and two traffic perimeters (a red perimeter prohibiting automobile traffic – except for exemptions – a blue perimeter prohibiting transit to motorized vehicles only).

Deliveries will be made possible provided there is no right of way on public roads. It will have to go very quickly to leave the flow of pedestrians free and real estate work can continue almost everywhere, he added.

On the other hand, work on the roads will not be possible in the blue and red zones, noted Mr. Nuez because it will create traffic disruptions. And on all that are reserved lanes and relief lanes and others, this will not be possible either.

The results of the consultations and the final circulation perimeters will be revealed at a press conference at the end of February.
