(dpa) With twelve nominations, the film “The Power of the Dog” is this year’s Oscar favorite. The drama has been nominated for Best Picture, among other things, as the Oscar Academy announced on Tuesday in Los Angeles. New Zealand director Jane Campion and Benedict Cumberbatch and Jesse Plemons, who play two brothers who run a ranch together in Montana in the 1920s, also received nominations.
The science fiction epic «Dune» by Canadian director Denis Villeneuve received ten nominations. Movies like “West Side Story” and “Belfast” also have multiple chances of winning. The 94th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place in Hollywood on March 27th.
