The price is steep – Land Rover is still launching a series of Defenders

Actually, the classic Defender has long since been scrapped (or aluminum). But they can’t quite let go of Land Rover: The British are now launching another small series. This time, too, the off-roaders will not be newly built; instead, used models will be extensively refurbished. And that costs.

Produced in 2021 by Land Rover’s Classic department and limited to 25 units, the special edition “Works V8 Trophy” based on the old Defender will be relaunched this year. The “Works V8 Trophy II”, which is also limited to 25 units, differs from its predecessor in that it is painted black and white instead of yellow. In addition to the body variants 90 and 110 Station Wagon, the 110 Double Cab Pick-Up is also available this time. As with the 2021 edition, Land Rover will only select vehicles from the years 2012 to 2016 for the second-hand Defender. These are then restored and technically modernized by the Classic department. The highlight of the all-wheel drive is a 5.0-liter V8 petrol engine with 405 hp in combination with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The interior is upgraded with Recaro sports seats, leather upholstery and an analogue clock made by Elliot Brown. In addition, the Trophy conversion is characterized by special off-road equipment such as underbody protection, a front winch, roof rack, snorkel or additional headlights.Anyone who chooses a Defender Works V8 Trophy II will also receive an invitation to the Land Rover Trophy, a three-day off-road event . The small series will be sold worldwide. Prices should start at the equivalent of around 270,000 euros – plus NoVA. For comparison: For used Defenders built between 2012 and 2016, prices are currently between 30,000 and 100,000 euros.
