This week, the French Senate considered the thorny issue of regulating the pornography market. Thus, 23 proposals were made on this subject by the senators. The goal is obviously to make this sensitive content more difficult to access for young Internet users. The French audience of the main pornographic sites has thus been scrutinized. As we pointed out in a previous article, two thirds of children under 15 have already been exposed to pornographic images. A portion that reaches a third in children under 12 years old. Minors are particularly exposed and one site appears to be a very poor student in this area.
More than ever in turmoil
It is once again Pornhub that has drawn the wrath of the authorities. According to this report, approximately 17% of the French public who log on to the site each month are minors. This represents exactly more than 1.6 million visitors out of the 9.2 million monthly. This is much more than xHamster (7.6%), xVideos (11.8%), Cliphunter (13.4%) or even Xnxx (3.5%). In addition, the two other sites owned by MindGeek (the owner of Pornhub), YouPorn and RedTube, respectively climb to 7% and 5.7% of underage audience in France.
The report also relies on the nature of the images disseminated which are deemed “ extreme and demeaning », Declaring in passing that the incriminated sites are exiled in tax havens. Even if solutions have been put on the table, the regulation of pornographic content on the internet promises to be difficult to say the least.
