Not only is the Queen indisposed, two Councilors of State are de facto out of service. Does this mean that Duchess Camilla’s big hour strikes?
The British monarch Queen Elizabeth II (95) currently has to take it easy for health reasons. The 95-year-old had to cancel her participation in various events and trips with a heavy heart. In view of this fact, Duchess Camilla (74) may soon be given more responsibility, as reported by “Mail on Sunday”. Because these days there is a royal bottleneck not only because of the ailment of the Queen.
There are currently nominally four Counselors of State, who are endowed with the power to represent the Queen in important official business. These are right now Prince Charles (72), Prince William (39), Prince Harry (37) and Prince Andrew (61). However, because Harry has emigrated to the United States and Andrew is facing serious allegations of abuse, effectively only Charles and William remain to act on behalf of the Queen. This is the bare minimum, since two Councilors of State always have to represent the Queen together.
More names are circulating
According to the report, it is therefore quite possible that Duchess Camilla could soon be appointed State Councilor. Other potential names would be the Queen children Princess Anne (71) and Prince Edward (57) or Prince Andrew’s daughters Eugenie (31) and Beatrice (33).
Prime Minister Boris Johnson (57) recently gave the latest update on the Queen’s health. “I spoke to Her Majesty as part of my job every week and she is in very good shape,” the head of government told ITV on the sidelines of the G20 summit over the weekend. Her doctors told her that she had to take it easy, the politician revealed. “We should all respect and understand that. Everyone wishes her the best,” said Johnson.
