the remake of a cult game for an entire generation has leaked

SEGA pulls out all the stops and plans big things. One of the remakes currently in the works has even already leaked. It looks pretty promising.

SEGA goes all out, it’s a clear and clear formula, but one that suits the company’s projects well. After having decided to redouble its efforts and increase the number of games, films and series around Sonic, the blue giant announced to us some time ago now, the big return of several of its flagship licenses. Very cult franchises for many old hands, which, for the most part, have been forgotten over time. But SEGA has big ideas in mind, lots of ideas…

A great SEGA classic soon to return… it has already leaked

Golden Ax, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio…SEGA has dug into its boxes and hopes to bring its most notable series up to date. Although we don’t really know where the various projects are at, one of them is getting people talking because of some visuals leaked online. As spotted by Wccftech, the YouTube channel of a certain Alex has indeed relayed a gameplay video of the Jet Set Radio remake which is in full development.

We can see a vast open world representing a rather modern metropolis, but also some game sequences with grinding galore, tag, and a few dance steps. As already suggested by the first official visuals revealed during the last Game Awards, the artistic direction also seems to have changed drastically although the comics aspect is still present, it seems much less marked. We are far from the cell shading of the original game. Obviously, we will take all of this with a grain of salt, even if the editing seems to be closer to a trailer or a developer diary. Regardless, the game is currently in its preliminary stages and this is of course in no way representative of the finished product. However, it gives us an idea of what we can expect.

The big return of several cult licenses coming soon

According to rumors and some information here and there, SEGA is initially planning to release a remake of the first Jet Set Radio followed by a free-to-play service game in the colors of the license. Subsequently, Crazy Taxi would follow the same path with a remake and free-to-play. As for Shinobi, Golden Ax or even Streets of Rage, nothing has really been confirmed yet, except that remakes are indeed planned.
A wave of nostalgia for many fans who have now all become adults. It will also be an opportunity for the younger generation or latecomers to discover legendary franchises that have marked the history of video games.
