The Renault Zoe bows out

Rumors about the end of production of the Renault Zoe had been circulating for several months and had multiplied with the development of the R5. This time, the hour of retirement seems to have really struck since the last Zoe will leave the production lines on March 30, 2024.

The Renault Zoe first appeared in the form of two concept cars, the Zoe City Car and the Zoe Concept, unveiled in 2005 and 2009 respectively. The production version was presented in 2010, but it took until 2012 for the launch of production and March 2013 for its marketing in its native lands. Since then, the city car has evolved, but retaining the same spirit and most of its design: new engine in 2015, new batteries (41 and even 52 Wh)…

A commercial success

Commercial success is there, since 200,000 copies find takers during the first seven years of phase 1 marketing. The rest is just as positive, at least until the last few years. In 2020, Renault thus sold more than 37,000 Zoe. From 2021, the situation becomes more complicated, partly due to more intense competition than ever, including internally with the arrival of the electric Twingo and the Dacia Spring. Sales fell to 23,575 units in 2021 and 12,200 in 2022. Since the start of its career, the Renault Zoe would have sold a total of 400,000 copies, a good figure!

With this model, a page that turns. Indeed, the Zoe should be the last car to leave the chains of the historic Flins factory, which will now focus on the manufacture of a few parts for the brand’s utility models and the development of the Refactory.
