If theApple Vision Pro promises to be a helmet full of promise, it could have been even more technologically advanced, according to a certain Ross Young.

While the Vision Pro has been reacting to the whole world since its announcement, an analyst shares with us some additional information about the resolution of the helmet.

Apple: a clear (but costly) vision of mixed reality

If this week is not yet over, there is still little chance that it will end with an announcement larger than the Apple Vision Pro. Indeed, last Monday, the Apple brand took advantage of its opening conference at WWDC23 to finally lift the veil that revolved around its first mixed reality headset. And the least we can say is that the latter will have very advanced technologies, although its battery will still make some people disappointed.

Equipped with 23 million pixel microOLED screens, proximity and infrared sensors or even spatial audio, the Apple Vision Pro intends to raise the standards (as well as the prices) in terms of augmented and virtual reality. However, recent reports indicate that the Cupertino company had initially considered bringing better resolution to its headphones, but found itself forced to revise its ambitions somewhat.

A lowered resolution for the Apple Vision Pro?

Well known on Twitter, analyst Ross Young announced last May that Apple’s Vision Pro would have a pixel density of 4,000 PPI (pixels per inch). If no details have been officially communicated by the bitten apple brand on this subject, it seems that the final version of the helmet will display an indicator of 3,400 PPI. According to Young, the primary objective would therefore ultimately not have been achieved. By way of justification, some point to questions related to costs while others rather speak of problems with the overheating of the headphones which would have prompted Apple to revise its initial plans.

Be that as it may, and as the site rightly reminds us Wccftech, most users would certainly not have been able to see the difference with the naked eye. The analyst on Twitter tells us in addition to all the official information that the screens of the XR headphones from Apple would each measure 1.41 inches (with a density of 3,400 PPI, therefore). Remember that the Vision Pro will be marketed from 3,499 dollars from the beginning of 2024 and that it will be necessary to be patient before hoping to see a second cheaper model land on the market.
