The Rings of Power: The second season of the “Lord of the Rings” series is said to have several possible endings – that’s what the leaks say

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER

There have been numerous speculations surrounding the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” months before its release. One says that Amazon allegedly filmed several endings for the second season.

  • “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” has been renewed for a second season by Amazon Prime Video.
  • In order to avoid spoilers before the new episodes air, Amazon has reportedly filmed several endings for the second season.
  • The main players in the possible endings are said to be Sauron and Galadriel’s husband Celeborn.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” took us back to the world of Middle-earth in autumn 2022. The Amazon Prime Video series is the first to tell a story during the Second Age, the details of which we only know roughly from the “Silmarillion”, the prequel collection to Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” series.

Because so little is known from that period of Middle-earth, the series creators have a lot of freedom to retell all possible storylines and interpret them in a different way. This makes the plot of the series unpredictable and the makers take advantage of it.

To combat spoilers, Amazon spreads false information among leakers. The streaming service is also said to have filmed several endings for season 2 so that Amazon can decide on a different ending for season 2 shortly before the release of the season finale.

Three of these possible endings for season 2 are already in circulation and mainly have to do with the casting of Sauron by Charlie Vickers (“The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart”) and Calam Lynch (“Bridgerton”).

Be careful, the following paragraphs contain spoilers!

Why is Sauron played by two actors in season 2?

In the first season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Charlie Vickers played Galadriel’s companion Halbrand. It wasn’t until the end of the season that we learned that the eloquent stranger was just Sauron’s cover.

Sauron is a shapeshifter who hides from his enemies with a new identity. He’ll supposedly continue this game in Season 2 and that’s where Calam Lynch comes into play. As the site “Fellowship of Fans” claims to have found out, Lynch will play Galadriel’s husband Celeborn.

However, it is possible that we will not meet the real Celeborn in season 2, but only Sauron posing as an elf. This leads to three known possible endings, which Amazon can change at any time as things currently stand, because only the last 5 to 10 minutes should be different.

What three possible endings could there be?

Ending #1: Sauron disguises himself as Celeborn

A possible ending for The Rings of Power Season 2 predicts that the real Celeborn will not make an appearance in the season. Instead, Sauron is said to have disguised himself as an elf in order to exert influence over Galadriel. When Sauron’s masquerade is exposed, we learn that Celeborn is still alive.

Ending #2: Celeborn or Sauron?

The second possible ending to season 2 is based on a similar premise. There are hints that Celeborn could be Sauron and it’s up to Galadriel to find out the truth.

The elf must decide whether to trust Celeborn or kill him. Galadriel ultimately makes the right decision and realizes that Celeborn is really her husband.

Ending #3: Celeborn is injured

At the end of the 2nd season, the big battle of Eregion will be shown. This is also where the real Celeborn supposedly appears for the first time. The elf is seriously wounded and it remains unclear whether he will survive his injuries.

Which ending is right?

We can’t say which ending of the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will be the right one. Even the producers probably don’t know yet and that makes things extremely exciting.

Celeborn’s fate could provide a major cliffhanger in the season finale or give Galadriel a glimmer of hope as she is reunited with her loved one. What ultimately awaits us could be decided on the day of publication.

It is currently not known when the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will come to Amazon Prime Video. We could find out more about Celeborn’s fate as early as fall 2024 or we’ll have to wait until 2025.
