The Rolling Stones
Date announced for the new album
With double support from the USA, The Rolling Stones have revealed their new album “Hackney Diamonds” and its release date.
The three surviving members of the British band The Rolling Stones have presented their new album “Hackney Diamonds” along with their first single “Angry” in a humorous live stream on YouTube. Speaking to US late night host Jimmy Fallon, 48, Mick Jagger, 80, Keith Richards, 79, and Ronnie Wood, 76, revealed the new record will be released on October 20 and will feature 12 tracks in total.
Two of the songs already stand out in an emotional way: they were recorded with their drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021. One of those songs even featured former member Bill Wyman, as Jagger proudly announced – a line-up that hadn’t been seen since 1993.
Sydney Sweeney stars in the music video
Following the “Q&A” session with Fallon, the music video for the first single from the now 24th studio album was presented. For “Angry,” the Stones have enlisted the support of “White Lotus” and “Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney, 25. In the clip for the single, which comes in the typical rocky Stones sound, Sweeney lolls in a skimpy black leather outfit on the back seat of a red convertible. She passes numerous advertising posters on which Jagger and Co. perform in the most diverse phases and outfits of their long career – a journey through more than 60 years of band history.
“Hackney Diamonds” is the first studio album with new songs by the Rolling Stones since “A Bigger Bang”, which was released around 18 years ago. Since the end of August there have already been tangible indications of a new Stones album. Jagger and his colleagues placed an advertisement in the local newspaper, the Hackney Gazette, under false names. The ad for the fictional company “Hackney Diamonds” featured references to the songs “Satisfaction”, “Gimme Shelter” and “Shattered”.
