No time to waste for the LA cops! From this Saturday, January 13, M6 is accelerating their intervention on its antenna.
As a reminder, The Rookie, the Los Angeles cop, inspired by the true story of Bill Norcross, tells the story of John (Nathan Fillion), who has just passed his forties and feels that he is at a turning point in his life. life, between his wife who leaves him and his son who goes to college. After witnessing a robbery and the police intervention, John decides to become a police officer. To make this old dream come true, John goes to live in Los Angeles, where he joins the local police force, of which he is the oldest “young recruit”, which will not make his task easier.
From 3 to 5 new episodes every Saturday evening!
For the launch of the fourth season of the American detective series, three episodes were broadcast last Saturday between 9:10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
But this week, the faithful of The Rookie will be entitled to an additional episode since no less than four episodes will be offered on the same evening.
And that’s not all ! Saturdays January 20 and 27, you will have to stay up until 1:20 a.m. if you want to follow the rest of season 4 of The Rookiewhose episodes will, this time, be programmed in fives.
An erratic programming which is unlikely to improve for the last week of broadcast of the series since there will then be four episodes of season 4 to broadcast for M6!
Low audiences since season 2
A strange programming due to disappointing audiences? If the channel has not given any reason to justify its decision, this seems the most likely. Indeed, Saturday January 6, the first three episodes of season 4 of The Rookie brought together barely 1.1 million, one million and 960,000 people (5.4%, 5.2% and 6% of the TV audience at those times). A low score for M6, even if the slot dedicated to American series on Saturdays rarely proves to be a success for the channel.
For comparison, the launch of season 4 was even less followed than that of previous seasons: there were, on average, 2.8 million for season 1, 1.6 million for season 2, and 1.4 million for season 3.
The spin-off of The Rookie soon to be broadcast on M6?
Low audiences which could end up pushing M6 to stop broadcasting the series? Not necessarily. Last year, we already warned you that the channel had decided to accelerate the broadcast of The Rookiewhich did not prevent it from broadcasting a new season at the start of the year.
From there to consider offering its spin-off series, The Rookie, FBI? Nothing seems excluded. M6, for example, broadcast all of the spin-offs of NCIS (NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Hawai’i), with, however, more or less success. The probability is all the greater as The Rookie, FBIlaunched in 2022, was not renewed at the end of its first season, which would therefore not commit M6 over the long term.
