In “The Rookie” Season 6, the LAPD is kept busy by a criminal mastermind who targets the police and other intuitions. But who is behind all the crimes?

In many seasons of “The Rookie” there is often a Big Bad, a villain who makes life difficult for the LAPD over several episodes. We have already seen the serial killer Rosalind Dyer, who haunted John Nolan and the team in several seasons. But La Fiera and Elijah Stone also caused a few sleepless nights for the Mid-Wilshire Division.
In Season 6, the cops have to deal with a criminal who is appropriately called the mastermind. But in episode 1 of season 6 we find out that we have been led on the wrong track so far. In the finale of season 5 we saw a man who was apparently behind the attack on Aaron Thorson and Celina Juarez.
But after the big robbery at the Federal Reserve Bank, we know that Boyd Taylor, that’s the name of the mysterious man, was only the head of a subgroup of the mastermind.

However, we know that his lawyer Monica Stevens is in contact with the real mastermind. She indirectly advises him to have Boyd Taylor killed, since he is on the direct path to prison and will most likely come clean if he can avoid a life sentence.
In episode 2, Monica appears again, this time representing Oscar Hutchinson, who is suing John Nolan for the injury he suffered during his kidney transplant in season 5. Is it a coincidence that Monica is his lawyer? The cops are also suspicious.

The big suspicion is on Elijah Stone. The drug lord is now in prison and his cellmate is none other than Oscar. The two seem to be in cahoots from day one in prison. It is of course possible that Elijah will provide Oscar with his lawyer. But is he also the mastermind?
It’s possible that Elijah is pulling the strings from prison to make life difficult for the LAPD and get revenge on them. The cops don’t seem to have figured out that Boyd Taylor’s lawyer also has contacts with the mastermind and that both cases could be connected.
Everything points to Elijah Stone being the mastermind. But let’s hope that “The Rookie” goes in a new direction and chooses another Big Bad for the season. Another showdown with Elijah would be kind of disappointing.
