No children, no Kate and also the morning walk to St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle Easter service 2024 out of. Shaken by the cancer diagnoses of King Charles, 75, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42, the Royal family this Sunday to celebrate hope. There is still a sign of happiness on the faces of the significantly reduced royal society – Zara and Mike Tindall are also missing. The smiles on the lips of Queen Camilla, 76, Sarah Ferguson, 64, and Duchess Sophie, 59, seem genuine – but their chosen clothing reflects their emotional sadness.

The royal family at the Easter service 2024: Winter won’t let them go

Beginning of spring: The sun fights its way through the cloud cover, the first buds bloom. It’s a magical time of year, which the royals have been highlighting with their choice of clothing in recent years. But this year it doesn’t shine, this sun. The gray sky persists and also overshadows the Easter service. While Kate, Zara, Camilla and Sophie relied on bright colors last year to symbolize the end of Lent and to amplify the new beginning in fashion, this intention will be searched in vain in 2024. Almost all royals go dark.

1. Queen Camilla: From royal blue to dark green

Last year, Catherine and Camilla appeared in a colored duo. Both relied on a combination of dark and royal blue. The queen’s dress featured fine embroidery, and a matching fascinator adorned her hair. But in 2024, Camilla goes even darker, wearing a cyan dress with velvet details on the neckline and collar, and she combines it with black. Boots, handbag, cape and gloves make the outfit look even shadier. The velvet hat also suggests a winter wardrobe rather than spring.

2. Duchess Sophie chooses a size darker

Duchess Sophie shined in a combination of pink and beige in 2023. This year she’s choosing a familiar piece of clothing: her purple PradaA coat. Her glitter clutch is color coordinated. At least Sophie’s white beret and the smile on her lips inspire spring fever.

3. Sarah Fergusons likes it icy

Last year Sarah Ferguson was absent from the service, but on her way to St. George’s Chapel she tried to add some brighter color. But her Dolce & Gabbana Rachel tweed dress is as reminiscent of the icy cold of winter as it is of the blooming life of spring. She also uses black accessories, which no longer makes the look friendly. However, her black headband with flower applications suggests blooming intentions.

She carries hope! Princess Anne is the exception

It can hardly be brighter than white – and that’s what happened Princess Anne is thought of and the color has been changed. Strictly speaking, it has also darkened, changing from white to green. However, people tend to turn a blind eye to this vibrant color that is associated with hope, renewal and life.

Even if the brown tones of the gloves, bag and boots are not entirely consistent, the eye remains on Anne’s light green coat, which she also decorates with a brooch. The fascinator, which is also green, rounds off the spring look, and the princess’s open facial expression makes her appearance a highlight.
