The RTX 4070 Ti outsells the two RX 7000s combined, Nvidia buries AMD

The RTX 4070 Ti sits proudly at the top of graphics card sales for the third week of January. Its popularity is undeniable as it surpasses that of its range neighbors. AMD, for its part, is struggling to cope: its cumulative sales scores for its two RX 7000s fail to match Nvidia’s flagship.

If the GeForce RTX 4080 and 4090 introduced the new generation of Nvidia graphics cards to the market, it is obviously the RTX 4070 Ti that brought it into the hands of the general public. The sales figures for the third week of January are particularly telling. A few days before the launch of the GPU, the manufacturer has sold 545 units, making it the best-selling graphics card over this period.

Results that are all the more impressive when put into perspective with the other models of the moment. Indeed, the second most popular card is (more or less) surprisingly the RTX 3060, with 485 units sold, which benefits from a much more affordable price than its counterparts. Third place is occupied by AMD with its Radeon RX 6700 XT, again an older generation card.

The RTX 4070 Ti is by far the most popular graphics card around

But then, where are the other RTX 4000s? To find them, you have to go a little lower in the ranking. The RTX 4090 is indeed eighth with 210 units sold, while the RTX 4080 is eleventh with 190 units sold. Like what, offering cheaper prices will always attract more customers than astronomical performance.

On the same subject — RTX 4060 Ti: it will be as powerful and a little more efficient than an RTX 3070, but more expensive

As for AMD, although the firm manages to position its latest generation in the top 10, it is also far from equaling the popularity of the RTX 4070 Ti. Indeed, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT sold 300 and 200 copies respectively, which is still less than the flagship of Nvidia between them. Of course, the RTX 4070 Ti benefits from its recent release, and we have to wait how its sales will develop over time before crowning it queen of graphics cards.
