Barely two models launched and Samsung would put an end to its Fan Edition range according to some sources.
Announced very late at the beginning of the year only, just before the launch of the Galaxy S22, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE struggled to impress its world. The bad timing as well as the offer considered rather unfavorable of the smartphone plunged it quite quickly into oblivion. So much so that Samsung would consider it best to end its “Fan Edition” range, only two models after its appearance.
No Galaxy S22 FE before the S23
Designed to offer a more affordable option than its Galaxy S while remaining in the “premium” sector of smartphones, the FE models seemed set to last. But despite the success of the S20 FE when it was released in 2020, this range would not be destined to be renewed in the future.
According to SamMobile, it is very likely that Samsung will not release Galaxy S22 FE this year and completely abandon its range thereafter. Evidence of the existence of such a device should already have surfaced at this time of year as was the case for the S21 FE last year, but nothing to report, which would corroborate the information of the site and would show Samsung’s disinterest in its FE line.
A position too difficult to maintain
It is true that the place that these models could previously occupy has suddenly been reduced over time. The relatively affordable price of the basic models of the Galaxy S22 combined with the fairly frequent discounts on the better equipped S21s and a price that is too uncompetitive for the FE have ended up making the latter much less attractive than when it was introduced.
In the end, the only trump card it had left was its promise of another year of updates. This strategy made sense at the time of the release of the Galaxy S21 when only its basic model was offered below 1000 euros. But now the options at this price point have multiplied and it may be best for Samsung to focus on its flagships and let A-series models like the Galaxy A53 take over.
