Samsung will announce its Galaxy S22 on February 9, but its next flagships may still be desired. Due to difficulties in the supply chain, the smartphones may not be released until the end of the month and, for some, in March.
While the Unpacked presenting the next Galaxy S22 is still scheduled for February 9, the South Korean company could be forced to postpone the release of its new flagships.
Early rumors pointed to a release immediately following the Feb. 9 announcement. Which would seem logical since the smartphones are already highly anticipated and they come out, moreover, later than the brand’s other models. However, according to Jon Prosser, Samsung would face a problem of shortage of chips within its assembly lines.
bad news:
I’m told that due to supply chain issues, the Galaxy S22 lineup has had a slight setback.
Pre-order for ALL devices is still happening on event day (Feb 9)
However, availability has now been split:
S22 Ultra: Feb 25
S22 & S22+: Pushed to March 11 pic.twitter.com/pp2IFAYXSN— Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) January 31, 2022
the Iaker which often aims just indicates that the firm could be satisfied with marketing its Ultra model at first. The release of the latter would be scheduled for February 25, while the other two models, the S22 and S22+, would not go on sale until March 11. A very distant date that would force the two smartphones to face more competition. Remember that it is during this same period that models such as the OnePlus 10 Pro (already made official in China) or the next Oppo Find X should be presented. Two other top-of-the-range heavyweights who could overshadow smartphones from Samsung.
For the moment, the company is careful not to communicate on these potential postponements. The conference being scheduled in a short week, we should learn more at that time. But semiconductor shortage issues in the industry are not new, and it’s no wonder that Samsung is suffering from it, along with other manufacturers.
