Released in cinemas in 1995, GoldenEye quickly became a cult film. In this feature film, Pierce Brosnan played secret agent 007 for the first time, successfully succeeding Sean Connery. Directed by Martin Campbell, this 17ᵉ opus of the saga was broadcast on France 2 this Sunday, July 9 at 9:10 p.m. In this pane, James Bond is tasked with finding the GoldenEyea Russian satellite stolen by mercenaries, whose strike power could wipe any capital city off the map.
As with each part of the saga, James Bond offers his audience the most beautiful stunts during his secret missions. But for GoldenEyefilmed around the world, the shooting experienced some upheavals due to a phobia of Pierce Brosnan. A phobia that somewhat upset the filming
Only, the film crew had to face a major hazard since Pierce Brosnan is terrified of heights. Not wanting to confront his greatest phobia, the actor simply refused to shoot this scene. To overcome this problem, the director therefore chose to make call for a professional stuntman to replace the actor. A change that worked very well since the spectators are not seen from anything thanks to an adapted shooting angle and a good dose of make-up. In GoldenEye, Martin Campbell wanted to give a touch of modernity to the saga. The director therefore took the freedom not to be inspired by the works of Ian Fleming who helped create the universe of the James Bond saga. Another change, the director, claiming to be anti-tobacco, decided to remove cigarettes from his film. Thus, you will never see Pierce Brosnan with a cigarette in hand in this 17ᵉ part. The James Bond universe is also becoming more feminized with the arrival of Judi Dench in the skin of M. Always in a process of modernization, the secret agent no longer wears his famous and traditional Rolex watch but an Omega.
