The film sonic 2 was a huge box office success, grossing over $400 million. It’s obviously much less than other cinema heavyweights, but it’s more than enough to Paramount in this post-pandemic period, so much so that the studio was quick to order a sequel and a spin-off centered on Knuckles (played by Idris Elba). And if we will have to wait to find out more about these two projects, we at least know when the film sonic 3 will be released in theaters.

Sega and Paramount have already confirmed the (US) release date of the film sonic 3. We will therefore have to wait until December 20, 2024 to see the rest of the adventures of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles on the big screen. We don’t necessarily want to play the prediction game, but we already imagine that this date could change, given that it is the release date ofAvatar 3 (unless he moves first). And even if Sonic is successful in the cinema, he would not measure up to his other blue friends.
No other details have been announced yet regarding this third episode, and it is not known whether the spin-off on Knuckles will be released before or not on Paramount +. Those who have seen the second film should nevertheless have an idea of where this third opus is heading, and we imagine that most of the cast members will be back. The question still hangs over the presence of Jim Carrey (Robotnik), since the latter has expressed his desire to retire.
So be patient, but until then, fans of the blue hedgehog will soon be able to discover Sonic Frontierswhich has no specific release date.
