Despite Hannes Wolf's goal against RB Leipzig, Julian Nagelsmann considers contract clauses to be "stupid" that prohibit loan players from playing against their own club. "I know that there is this rule. But I don't think this rule is good," said the RB coach after the 0-1 (0-0) defeat at Borussia Mönchengladbach. The decisive goal was scored by Wolf, who was awarded to Gladbach by Leipzig. "Why shouldn't you play against the ex-club? If you're so worried that one of the players will fail, then maybe you shouldn't loan him out, but keep him and let him play," said Nagelsmann.

Wolf had scored the first Bundesliga goal of his career in Borussia Park. "We know that Hannes can kick. That's why we bought him," said Nagelsmann. Scoring goals is ultimately Wolf's "job," Nagelsmann continued: "And I think Gladbach will pay him if I'm properly informed."
