The strike against the government’s pension reform, which began on March 7 at the TotalEnergies refinery in Donges (Loire-Atlantique), has been renewed for a fifth consecutive week on this site, we learned from the unions on Friday.

“The CGT and CFDT trade union organizations are calling for the renewal of the movement until next Friday. The + democracy + set up by the Borne-Macron binomial does not make us back down, does not affect our determination, so the strike movement continues “, announced Fabien Privé Saint-Lanne, CGT union representative (majority), at the end of the weekly general meeting.

“We suffered requisitions, threats vis-à-vis our fellow subcontractors, blackmail for employment, blackmail for investment. Nothing undermines the determination of the strikers”, continued Mr. Privé Saint-Lanne, a week after the requisition of striking employees on this site.

“The requisitions today are over, after having partially delivered a batch of gasoline to the Vern-sur-Seiche (Ille-et-Vilaine) depot which supplies Brittany”, he said, lamenting however that strikers from the SFDM oil depot, neighboring the refinery, are “requisitioned all weekend”.

The position of FO was slightly different from that of the CGT and the CFDT after the general assembly.

This union calls for a strike only until Wednesday, April 5, to demand answers after the meeting between Elisabeth Borne and the inter-union.

“We want to have a clear visual on Wednesday evening, at the end of the meeting, but the mobilization, the determination within our team is not weakening, quite the contrary”, detailed Marin Guillotin, FO union representative at the refinery.

Marin Guillotin had brought with him the remains of a de-encirclement grenade and a tear gas canister declaring: “it is not with things like that that we will allow dialogue”.

“It is up to the government to take its responsibilities very clearly, that is to say to withdraw the text (on pension reform, editor’s note), and then perhaps recreate a link with the trade unions”, added Mr. Guillotine.
