Hamburg: This is what makes the style of the city so special

Berlin, Copenhagen, London: We all have a city where we simply feel at home in terms of fashion. For fashion intern Anouschka it’s definitely Hamburg. What excites you about the style of the women from Hamburg…
Hamburg is the birthplace of great designers like Jil Sander and Karl Lagerfeld, defined by their effortless elegance. And that seems to be the style secret of the women from Hamburg. Because when it comes to the style of the Hamburg women, I look in vain for the clichéd yellow East Frisian mink.
Chic happens
Three words are enough to describe the Hamburg look: minimalist, casual and chic. If you’re looking for big logos and bright colors, you won’t find it in the Northern Lights closet. The rule here is: less is more. The Hamburg resident doesn’t want to attract attention at all costs, but she does it anyway. She prefers to wear muted colors, especially popular: beige, black and dark blue. Even if the outfit is kept a bit simpler, the focus is on high-quality accessories. Popular brands to complement the look with luxurious accessories are: Céline, Hermès and Chanel.
The bigger, the better
It doesn’t matter whether it’s Marlene pants or a blazer in an oversized look – the main thing is that it’s wide. You won’t find skinny jeans or figure-hugging clothing on the streets of Hamburg. Wide pants are often paired with XXL cashmere sweaters, platform sneakers round off the style.
The coat: The must-have of the Hamburgers
When I visited Hamburg for the first time, one piece of clothing in particular caught my eye: the coat. Whether in the wool version or as a classic, over-long trench coat, the people of Hamburg love their coats because they are multi-talented: they protect against the typical stiff breeze and are perfect for emphasizing the effortless style once again.
Sparkle at night
In contrast to the relaxed everyday looks, breathtaking outfits are pulled out of the closet in the evening. Pearl ear studs are replaced with statement earrings and the white sneakers are swapped for high heels. True to the motto “see and be seen”, extravagant looks are created for the perfect night out.
