No more super promotions on detergents or shampoos, parliamentarians have just agreed this Wednesday, March 15 on the limitation of promotions on hygiene products. They join the food products whose discounts cannot be higher than 34%.
Negotiations between distributors and suppliers have recently been concluded, discussions which have resulted in a rise in consumer prices in general. No less than seven deputies and senators agreed on the bill of the deputy of the Renaissance party Frédéric Descrozaille modifying the commercial relations between distributors and suppliers. The text indicates that promotions on hygiene products can no longer exceed 34% off, like those on food products. This bill, which will be adopted by the Senate on March 21, is not unanimously accepted by distributors. Indeed, some have stepped up to the plate, such as the Federation of Commerce and Distribution, which considers this provision “irresponsible and inflationaryas well as unfavorable for French consumers.
It was also the president of the Système U channel, Dominique Schœlcher, who commented on this decision on Twitter: “On the one hand, we are being asked for an anti-inflation quarter, which we immediately committed to. On the other hand, Parliament passes a law which limits promotions among other aberrations.”
